Teachers are responsible for actively supervising, observing, and assessing students to prepare and implement an emergent curriculum based on their current students’ needs. Lead teachers help children play an active role in classroom learning while providing loving care and enriching experiences in a safe, warm, and Christ-centered environment.
Examples of teacher responsibilities:

Create an optimal learning and care environment. This includes preparing children both academically and socially by using age-appropriate lesson plans, selecting effective developmental materials for the classroom, and utilizing positive behavior reinforcement.

Maintain an open, friendly, and cooperative relationship with each child and their family, other OCC ELC teachers, and administration.

Encourage each child’s family to be actively involved in OCC ELC.

Curriculum support, planning, and execution.

Supervise children, guide children’s behavior, and participate with children in activities.

Tend to children's personal hygiene needs, remaining especially attentive to them during routines such as toileting and hand washing.

Provide for the physical safety of each child from arrival time to departure time.

Communicate with parents on an ongoing basis and assist with parent conferences.

Daily observations and child evaluations.

Respect the values and beliefs of Overlake Christian Church.
